“Tell me and I forget, teach me and I remember, involve me and I learn.”

– Benjamin Franklin

At Brite Beginnings Early Learning & Development Center, we have created the High FIVE Curriculum that incorporates pieces of different curriculums and encourages learning through play as well as embraces independence. The High FIVE Curriculum was designed and made exclusively for Brite Beginnings and allows each child to learn and explore different concepts at their own pace.

F – Friendly

The High FIVE Curriculum is set up in a way that is user friendly and made to fit around any child’s needs. Each concept is formed in a way that is both challenging, but at the same time inviting.

I – Individual

The High FIVE Curriculum is based on the individual needs of each child that comes into our care. From the very first day your child starts at Brite Beginnings their progress and growth are tracked through observations, developmental checklists, and work samples. Through this, the staff at Brite Beginnings will be able to see their progress through the years and know exactly how to encourage continued development with your child.

V – Values

The curriculum incorporates everyday values that will teach our children how to succeed in their growing years. The values that will be encouraged in the High FIVE Curriculum are the six pillars of character:

  • Respect – Acceptance, manners, consideration, and kindness;
  • Trustworthiness – Honesty, reliability, courage, and loyalty;
  • Responsibility – Persevere, self-control, accountability, and thoughtfulness;
  • Fairness – Following rules, be open-minded, take ownership, and share;
  • Caring – Compassionate, gratitude, forgiveness, and helpfulness;
  • Citizenship – Cooperation, friendship, involvement, and protecting the environment.

E – Engaging

Each lesson plan and activity that follows the High FIVE Curriculum is engaging to both the mind and body of each child in our care.

At Brite Beginnings Early Learning & Development Center we recognize that children learn the best when they take an active role in the process. Brite Beginnings offers hands-on learning through hands-on fun! Our child-friendly environment combined with an outstanding program creates the ideal early childhood experience.

Tiny Turtles

Infant 1 (6 weeks – 12 months)

Ms. Jenny

Hi, I’m Jennifer Gerardo.  I am the current infant 1 lead teacher.  Prior to taking this position, I was the toddler 1 lead teacher.  I enjoyed working with the toddlers, but since I am expecting a little one of my own, I decided to move to the infant room.  I thoroughly enjoy working with the infants and creating ever lasting relationships with all of the families at Brite Beginnings!

Classroom Philosophy

We seek to form close relationships with the families and children under our care. Each child is a unique individual with a great capacity to learn, we strive to provide an environment where children and families from all cultural background feel welcome and accepted.

Each child will be provided with positive learning experiences, respect, patience, and the utmost care.

If you are wondering what a curriculum for infants looks like, take a look at our plan books! You’ll see that each day includes a variety of hands-on experiences that are specifically designed to support each stage of your child’s growth & development. Simple activities like peek-a-boo, bubbles, and stretch & reach games all promote curiosity and independence, in addition to building fine & gross motor skills.

To document growth & development, we maintain an assessment portfolio for each child. Portfolios use photographs, developmental checklists, and work samples to provide a record of individual progress.

Children are motivated to learn when they have opportunities to make choices in an environment that is enriching and stimulating. When children are encouraged to interact with their peers and adults in positive ways, they feel safe to explore their surroundings.

As their teacher, I seek to guide children from needing assistance with a task to accomplishing a task independently by providing experiences that are challenging yet attainable for every child.

My goals as a teacher is to provide children with a rich environment where they feel safe to explore, initiate learning, and feel free to express themselves.

Silly Seahorses

Infant 2 (12 months – 18 months)

Ms. Shameena

My name is Shameena Aziz; I am 25 years old and live in Schenectady with my family. I love basketball and my favorite team is the Orlando Magic!

Working with children is my true passion. Knowing that I am making a difference in their lives and helping them grow brings me real joy!

Classroom Philosophy

Families enrolled in the infant program can expect a secure, nurturing, and age appropriate environment.

Every aspect of your child’s care is based on your preferences in an effort to make our program your home away from home.

We truly consider caring for your infant to be a privilege and have great respect for the parent partnership.

We understand that early care and education go hand-in-hand, so smiles, songs, and snuggles are considered to be just as important as diaper changes and meal times!

As our infants grow, they are introduced to varied activities and materials that support their physical, social, and cognitive growth.

Each day includes a variety of hands-on experiences that are specifically designed to support each stage of your child’s development.

Each activity promotes curiosity and independence, in addition to building important fine and gross motor skills.

The Bubbly Beluga program promotes independence through child centered and teacher directed activities throughout the day. Self-help skills such as eating skills, potty training, hand washing, and independently cleaning up are among the skills taught in this room.

Shining Starfish

Ms. Jenn

My name is Jennifer Weingartner. I have been a part of the Brite Beginnings team since June of 2015. Prior to starting at Brite Beginnings, I worked in the child care facility at Vent Fitness.  I enjoyed working there, but wanted more interaction with the children every day- not just while their parents are exercising, so I decided to take the job here. :)  I began here as a preschool assistant then moved to the school age classroom as a lead teacher and have finally ended up back in preschool!  I love working with this age group! Please don’t hesitate to come to me if you have any questions, ideas or concerns!

Working with children and watching them discover new things truly brings me joy!

Classroom Philosophy

The Shinning Starfish classroom is where exploration becomes formalized. Each child’s unique personality is incorporated into their learning and development.

Our program is designed to encourage your child’s growth socially, emotionally, physically, and intellectually. Our students learn to be independent and become confident in their actions.

We strive to help children become lifelong learners!

Preschoolers learn through a variety of stimulating, hands-on experiences, all designed to support their development and growth. Several different learning centers are available all day, encouraging children to be creative and have fun while working in small groups. Classroom Mission Statement

“Education is a natural process carried out by the child and is not acquired by listening to words, but by experiences in the environment.”

– Maria Montessori

Preschool is a time to prepare children socially, emotionally, and academically for Kindergarten. To accomplish this our preschoolers spend their days discussing, socializing, creating, expressing, playing, and learning.

Children are active learners. A primary approach to learning is through purposeful play. Intentional planning promotes rich learning experiences that invite participation, involve multiple contexts, and engage the senses that help children explore their environment.

Dazzling Dolphins

School Age (5 years – 12 years)

Ms. Tricia

Hi, my name is Patricia Boner. I have been working with children for almost 10 years now. I live in Clifton Park with my boyfriend. Most of my family lives in New York, while my mom and sister are in Arizona. I am on the phone with my mom every weekend, catching up and asking for advice or a recipe she used to make.

In my free time I really enjoy relaxing with a good book or researching different things that spark my interest. I love to learn about the world around me and teach the children of my class about it as well. Working with children really brings me happiness and I’m so glad that I am a back as part of the Brite Beginnings team!

Classroom Philosophy

Our program is designed as a “wrap around” program, which continues your child’s education and development before and after the school day.

Children participate in activities that engage their intellectual, physical, social and emotional development and correspond to what they are learning in school.

With a balance of fun and education, the Dazzling Dolphins provides a comfortable environment for your child to continue to grow and thrive.

Here at Brite Beginnings we recognize the growing physical, intellectual, and social competence of the increasingly independent school age child. Eager to achieve socially and academically while expanding their knowledge of the world, 5 to 12 year olds seek new challenges, close friendships, and increasing responsibilities.

With lesson plans that correspond with what the children are learning at school, the children have the opportunity to explore reading and writing, creative arts, homework time, drama, computer lab and other enrichment programs.
